CONCEPT

For this project in Crimea, the team of architects has developed a design solution for land plot redevelopment and greening, designed architecture of a house, pavilion, pergola and swimming pool area.

The main task the team has faced was to develop a modern, minimalistic building and pavilion with simple geometrical configuration, without any excess elements; all details should have been utilitarian, repairable and easily serviceable.

The house form is simple: a parallelepiped divided into three floor parts:

Floor 1: kitchen-diner, guest room, guest bathroom, laundry and housekeeping area.

Floor 2: bedroom zone with two bedrooms and a bathroom, housekeeping area and a master bedroom with its own cloakroom and bathroom, floor-to-ceiling window and a view of the surrounding landscape.

Floor 3: open terrace with a pergola, recreation and sunbathing zones. The idea of creation of the top floor in the accessible roof area has been triggered by the amazing view of the surrounding nature with mountains and the opportunity to watch the sunset comfortably.

An architectural feature of southern regions is the presence of pergolas, tents, marquees providing shadows and protecting from the scorching sun in summer days.

There has appeared an idea to bring a part of the pergola (tent) outside the house borders from the yard side in order to protect some of the living room from direct sunlight and create a recreation zone in the shadows including for those spending time at the pool.

Another idea has been to build a transparent minimalist BBQ pavilion across from the house, repeating the form of house architecture and made of identical materials.

A spacious terrace in the pool area directly adjoins the living room. Thanks to the terrain, the pool can be highlighted and lifted above the general landscape level of the territory. Thus, the swimming pool zone can be separated from other functional landscape zones.

In landscape design, the principle of minimalism has also served as the basis for compositions. The underlying principle of this project is less is more, in architectural solutions as well as landscape development.

It has been resolved to use self-sustaining shrubs such as shiny cotoneaster as the main landscape greening solution since it can be trimmed several times a season to achieve clear geometric forms. We've also planted perennial grasses - grain crops, which are growing well in southern regions, trees have been planted around the perimeter to create privacy, however, we've selected bushy trees not to obstruct the view.
